"Halo"– Inkjet on Canvas 2022

"Halo" uses the dome of the Roman Pantheon as its material to explore therelationships between light, humans, nature, the universe, and spirituality. The piecealso incorporates the concept of a "black hole" to delve into the mysteries of thecosmos.

The visual effect employs a black-and-white inversion: the originally light-filledopening at the top of the dome becomes a dark halo, resembling a black hole with anirresistible pull. This breaks the traditional notion that "light must be bright, prompting thoughts about the universe s mysterious energies and serving as an entrypoint for reflections on nature and spirituality.

The shape of the dome closely resembles a mandala, a symbol of meditation inEastern cultures, embodying a sense of order much like the gravitational rings arounda black hole. The piece fuses the Roman reverence for cosmic orders with the Easternphilosophy of symmetrical meditation.

By digitally removing colors, the work sets up a dialogue between ancientperceptions - where natural light symbolized the divine - and moderninterpretations 一 where "black light" represents the unknown of the universe. It's aconversation between humanity's ancient awe of the universe and our contemporarytechnological exploration of it.

The introduction of the black hole builds a scene where light, humanity, nature, theuniverse, and spirituality intertwine - allowing viewers to transcend time and spaceIt is a modern reinterpretation of the ancient ideal of "harmony between the universeand humanity," using digital art techniques and black-and-white inversion to depicthumans s eternal quest to understand the universe and its spirituals.
